What they said would never happen, even more unlikely than the Eagles reforming, has happened! And Bad Sounds magazine got an exclusive invite to witness the majesty of Nocturno Culto and Fenriz (backed by musicians from Mayhem and Goatworship) take to the tiny, blackened stage at the Gjøvik Pust Bar. Fifteen or so loyal friends, family and Bad Sounds were invited to stand back and be brutalized by the first live show this century.
Taking the best from their previous releases, and also playing a couple of demo’s from the upcoming release (Slated to be called “Drinking Beer to Make Music to Drink Beer to”) which lands on May 12th, the band played for just shy of an hour. The shitty PA did nothing to limit the absolute majesty of the show. During “Paragon Belial” a fan who had hitch-hiked all the way from Bremen passed out baptizing himself in expensive Norwegian beer in the process. The band kept playing, the fire alarm went off, one of the windows got smashed, but all in all it was one of the best gigs ever. Like, EVER!
I hope this is not just a one-off and that they realize what a riot Darkthrone could cause if they decided to tour the world for one last time. HAIL !!
