This time around Bad Sounds bring you some music from Frances late 1970s to mid 1980’s synth pop, coldwave, and new wave period. Yes, there were other records than Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygène album coming out of France back then….thankfully…like the modern classic “Rectangle” by Jacno (pictured) from 1980.

A lot of good new wave and electro didn’t make a big impact across the border at that time, but has slowly been discovered in non French speaking countries through great compilations like BIPPP, So Young But So Cold and the Minimal Wave Tapes series; inspiring a whole new wave of French electronic music today. Lots to choose from, but here are some catchy favorites. As always, it’s delivered in in glorious youtube quality sound:

Ruth – Moths

Martin Dupont – It’s So

Elli et Jacno – Anne cherchait l’amour

Taxi Girl – Cherchez Le Garçon

Deux – Ministry Of Love

Comix – Touche Pas Mon Sexe

C.K.C – 20h25

Nini Raviolette – Suis-Je Normale?

Philippe Laurent (Hot-Bip) – Exposition 5

Artefact – Mae
